F.M. ALEXANDER discovered the critical biological mechanism that controls coordination. He developed a technique for showing others how to change their movement habits by using his hands to demonstrate new patterns of coordination for sitting, standing, walking and other activities, reducing stress and enhancing well-being. A leading surgeon in Sydney thought that more people should know about his discoveries and encouraged him to take his technique to London. Winning a bet on a horse race, Alexander decided he would go. Arriving in London in 1904, with introductions to medical men, he opened a studio and was soon successful teaching and refining his methods. His reputation extended into artistic circles after treating actress Lily Brayton who had lost her voice.
Alexander wrote four books about the Technique and it's applications.
